Kamara are a West African
Drum/Dance Troupe, its members come from Stoke on Trent, Chester, Leek,
Guinee, West Africa, Barbados and London.
They play
the traditional music of West Africa, which can be fast and powerful and
also melodic and beautiful. Kamara’s performances can include a variety
of authentic African instruments including percussion, kora (African harp),
balafon (African xylophone) , vocals, acrobatics and dance.
The African ballet style aims to represent all that is beautiful about West African music, imparting stories as well as having the audience dancing, laughing, singing and playing if they wish. Call 0844 800 2959 for bookings
I
would like to confirm that the contribution that Kamara made to a music
festival which I organised this summer near Chester was fantastic. They got
80% of a very mixed age group (10-70 yr olds) onto their feet, and those
that continued to sit down could not help tapping their feet!
A really original and entertaining group
An awesome act that “had” the crowd
almost from the moment they began their set.
